Fitur endorses the positive feelings for 2019 in the tourism sector

The sector closes this fair with expectations that invite optimism despite the uncertainty generated by the ‘Brexit’

The thirty-ninth edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid with very good feelings for the sector both in Andalusia and particularly for the province of Malaga. In the absence of a detailed balance with all the numerical data, which will be released throughout this week, the first assessments are positive and invite optimism.

“Despite the uncertainties caused by the ‘Brexit’, the reality is that thanks to ‘big data’, we know that there are very good expectations in these six months,” Bernal said.

The general director of Tourism Costa del Sol referred to the data thrown by the forecasts of airline seats, which have been confirmed by the tour operators themselves, who warn of significant increases in the British market , but also in other Europeans, such as the German or the Finnish.

In this sense, Bernal said that Fitur is a very important appointment for the tourism sector of the Costa del Sol, as it also serves to advance how they will work from the tourism point of view in the coming months.

On the other hand, the exhibitor of Tourism Costa del Sol has counted on these days with a novel cognitive intelligence system that allows to obtain data from visitors to improve promotional actions.

After having opened the Matka Fair, in Helsinki (Finland), in this edition of Fitur, it has had 17 cameras that have been collecting up to 90,000 data per minute, which will then be analyzed and interpreted to make decisions that help to be more effective when it comes to promoting the destination.

The edition that registers a greater call and also the most international

Fitur closed yesterday this thirty-ninth edition with large attendance figures in which it has also been the largest and most international call held to date.

In a first balance of results, the organization counts more than 253,000 participants. In this regard, the 1.8% growth in professional presence stands out during the first three days of the fair, in which 142,642 participants from all over the world have registered. In the international chapter, the increase was 8.9%.

Once again, Fitur has established itself as one of the most important tourism events in the world. This is corroborated with the participation of 886 companies, 8.3% more than in 2018; and 10,487 companies from 165 countries and regions.

In terms of exhibition area, there is also a significant increase, as they have reached 67,495 square meters of surface, 2.5% than in 2018, which has involved the occupation of 9 pavilions of Feria de Madrid .

In global terms, the national presence has grown 6% this year, and the international one, which already represents 55% of the participation share in Fitur, has done so by 11%, led by the increase in the participation of Africa (15%) and Europe (13%).

It also highlights the high business activity concentrated in the professional days with an agenda that has generated 9,150 B2B meetings with international buyers.
